Welcome to the TB Community Coordination Hub

USAID stop work orders, funding freezes, and lay-offs mean the fight to #endTB is at risk of being tremendously set back. While the work of the TB Hub sunset after the #2023TBHLM, we know that an informed and coordinated community is essential to fighting back and protecting the lives of people with TB, as well as the livelihoods of those committed to the cause of health for all. So, we’re resurrecting the “TB Community Coordination Hub”. Here you will find up to date resources and actions to inform and support civil society and communities affected by TB to persevere and stand in solidarity during these uncertain and trying times. Because TOGETHER - #YesWeCanEndTB

#EndTB champions around the world will not sit idle when we know people with TB and their communities are being put at risk. We will unite and take action to fill gaps in funding and care. Take the actions below to help realize a reversal of stop work orders and call on the global community to work together to combat anti-aid sentiment and find new allies who will fight for what counts!

1. IF YOU ARE AN IMPLEMENTER OF TB PROGRAMMING OR PROJECTS, UNDERSTAND & MAKE USE OF “WAIVERS” or the Restraining Order.

Colleagues with CHANGE (COMMUNITY HEALTH & HIV ADVOCATES NAVIGATING GLOBAL EMERGENCIES) has developed an info sheet to help you understand what has happened to date and how to interpret stop work orders and “waivers”. Read and use the INFO SHEET.

Be in touch with your grant or contracting officer at USAID, regarding waivers for TB programs. An internal USAID INFORMATION MEMO about the waiver indicates that a range of TB services should apply, including "essential screening......which includes “essential screening, testing, and treatment for tuberculosis (TB) and drug resistant TB (DR-TB) including provision and monitoring of laboratory services, drug susceptibility testing, clinical visits, dispensing of essential medicines to avert near-term mortality and spread of infection.”

More recently, judges issued temporary restraining orders on the Trump Administration stop work orders and funding freezes. Read and use this INFO SHEET from CHANGE to better understand what this means in practice and for your work.

2. IF YOU ARE AN IMPLEMENTER OF TB PROGRAMMING, PROJECTS, RESEARCH, etc. SHARE YOUR EXPIERENCE.

We know that a significant portion of TB programs and services around the world are supported with USAID funding - so the stop work orders will have a major impact on the global TB response. If you implement TB projects, programming, research, etc. please spare ~ 15 mins to complete this survey, which will allow us to capture and communicate the impact of stop work orders on the TB response. COMPLETE THE SURVEY NOW!

Please also help to disseminate the survey to be completed by relevant participants. Use the template email, WhatsApp message, and social media posts here to share widely now!

The survey is also now available to complete in RUSSIAN and FRENCH!

3. IF YOU ARE BASED IN THE US, EMAIL YOUR MEMBER OF CONGRESS & UNITE WITH PEERS.

4. ADVOCATE FOR GAPS IN FUNDING TO BE FILLED!

We can not rely on the Trump Administration to bring USAID funding back online. We must look for alternative sources of funding and ask allies of people and global health to step up and in. Initial thoughts to explore together including making a shift towards self-sufficiency and mobilizing domestic resources; calling on other donors and supporters throughout the G20 and high-net worth eco-system to step up and in; and looking to innovative financing solutions.

Join and support now - the #KeepTheLights on Campaign - A Stop TB Partnership Campaign to Sustain TB Survivor Networks and Local Community Organizations.

5. IF YOU FEEL SAFE, RAISE YOUR VOICE!

Take to social media and traditional sources of media to raise your voice to #EndTB and protect global health. Talk about why strong TB responses are important for individual, community, and global health and ask for a reversal of stop work orders and/or for others to step up to fight for what counts. COMMS TOOLKIT COMING SOON - till then please amplify TB specific resources and news shared below and use the #RestoreTBfunding - that way we can follow the conversation and amplify #EndTB voices!

TAKE ACTION!
